Lorri Sawatsky
Lorri Sawatsky grew up in the Fraser Valley of British Columbia, Canada. She and her husband Randy have six children and three grandchildren. Lorri has a long history of participating in community activities through work and church. Currently she is involved in her church as leader of Global Link: a ministry designed to bring global awareness to women.
Working for more than 10 years at Abbotsford Community Services Lorri has observed the growing needs within her community. More recently, through employment with an international organization that focused on helping individuals who are being denied their basic human rights in several countries globally, Lorri was given a vision. Her vision is to see youth become educated about global hunger while activly participating in fund raising and food drives to feed people locally and abroad at the same time; hence the Rice Raiser. Lorri believes that through the results of the Rice Raiser future generations can grow up in a world hurtinging less from the wreckage of hunger and be people who are compassionately more aware of their global home.
Lorri serves as Executive Director of Hunger Response International.
“It’s true that it takes a village to raise a child and, in turn, it will take the global village to ensure there is enough food available for the children of every village.”
